I would like to add that currently the VNUS closure procedure and Endovenous Laser Treatment are the only two varicose vein treatment modalities that are FDA approved. These techniques have almost replaced stripping and ligation as the technique for elimination of saphenous vein reflux in the United States and most developed countries. Endovenous procedures are far less invasive than surgery and have lower complication rates. The procedures are well tolerated by patients, and they produces good cosmetic results. Excellent clinical results are seen at 4-5 years, and the long-term efficacy of the procedure is now known with 10 years of experience.
