Endovenous laser Treatment
Endovenous lasers may also be used to treat varicose veins. Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT) is a minimally invasive image-guided technique in which a catheter bearing a laser fiber is inserted under ultrasound guidance into the great saphenous vein (GSV) through a small puncture at the level of the knee. EVLT works by heating the inside of the vein, which causes it to seal shut and disappear. The treatment usually takes less than an hour. The compression stocking must be worn for 2 weeks.
