Venous insufficiency
Venous insufficiency is a condition in which the veins have problems sending blood from the legs back to the heart. When leg veins cannot pump enough blood back to heart, we are talking about chronic venous insufficiency (CVI).
Symptoms of chronic venous insufficiency
- ankle and leg swelling
- calves may feel tight
- legs may feel heavy, tired, restless or achy
- person may feel pain while walking
Causes of chronic venous insufficiency
- long-term blood pressure inside the legs
- deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
- phlebitis
Treatment of chronic venous insufficiency
- Compression stockings
- Sclerotherapy
- Ablation
- Vein stripping
- Bypass
- Valve repair

i am 67 yrs and have chronic and prominent
varicose veins on both the legs. Had my colour doppler test
recently and it revealed that there is no DVT ASYET.However,
RECENTLY I HAD NOTICED A BLACK SCAR NEAR ANKLE WHICH ITCHES TOO.Is it due to the presence of varicose veins? i was using stockkings for last 5 years but since i am retd and do not use them now. i am located at Pune (Maharashtra) India. can pl sugesst the teatment or reamdy.
